Hurricane season runs from June 1st to 30th November in Florida.

So far this year there has been little activity significant activity to the areas where we have homes.

The best place to find out the up to the minute information is the National Hurricane Center 

We are well aware that the UK media like to jump on a Hurricane story at the drop of a hat and are sometimes inaccurate and iresponsible in their reporting.

IF the area you are staying in or that you are travelling to is likely to be affected by any significant Hurricane activity, please rest assured we will contact you and help you as far as we can.
NB if your flights are affected the airlines can leave it quite late to make their intentions clear but rest assured we will contact you as soon as we have news.

Grimsvotn has stopped erupting & the ash cloud is moving away from UK airspace

British Airways and Virgin Atlantic have reported the following

The eruption of Volcano Grimsvotn is NOT affecting UK airspace and currently all our flights are operating as scheduled. We continue to monitor the direction of the ash cloud it has created and liaise with UK National Air Traffic Services (NATS).

Icelandic Volcano erruption affects UK flights

The erruption of a volcano in  the Eyjafjallajoekull  area  the second to occur in a month.  This eruption has released ash to significantly greater heights.  Volcanic ash contains tiny particles of rock and even glass, which can wreak havoc with machinery.

NATS  is keeping in close contact with airlines and airports to keep everyone updated. 

Latest information shows that UK Airspace will reopen at 22.00 20th April 2010

If you have accommodation booked with DJW Rental we will be contacting you in due course to rearrange your accomodation.  If you have booked your flights with DJW Rental we will of course liase with airlines to reprotect your flights.

For guests that are already in Florida we will be in touch to make arrangements to extend your stay if required.

Disney and other Theme Parks offer park tickets to stranded guests.

Guests in the Kissimmee area please be advised Disney and other Theme Parks are Offering Admission to their Park’s – Take your expired E ticket and your Photo ID with you to Guest Services.  You will be able to obtain a 1 day Park Hopper ticket at Disney.  Other Theme parks have their own offers but offering similar free admission.

We are proud to announce the launch of the New DJW Flights and Rental Website.
The site does look similar to the old site but you will notice a few changes.
Firstly you will see that the photographs of our villas are larger than they used to be.  We still get comments that the photos on the site don’t do the homes justice, but we are working on it!
Also you might have noticed a new feature to the site to allow booking of hotels worldwide a quick click on the globe icon opens up a world of possibilites, quite literally!
 

All our Florida Villas available for rent are on the website.  As the site is new there may be the odd bug in the system, bear with us we are working as fast as we can to get them squashed!

ATOL – Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing – Which is operated by the UK’s Civil Aviation Authority provides financial protection to over 28 Million consumers who book air holidays and flights with tour operators and travel organisers every year.

So why should you book with an ATOL agent?  Does it Matter if you don’t book with an ATOL agent?

When you book a holiday you should always find out if the tour operator  you are booking with is ATOL protected.  It is easy to tell as the ATOL logo with the ATOL number must be displayed on advertisements, websites and brochures.  Once you have booked you will get a holiday confirmation invoice showing the operators ATOL number.
A travel agent should tell you which ATOL tour operator is protecting your holiday, your reciept should show the relevant ATOL number.

Did you know? – If you book your holiday direct with an airline including budget airlines you will NOT be ATOL protected.
You may be covered by your credit card if you spend over £100 check with your credit card company.
Neither are you protected if you book through an airline ticketing agent and recieve a ticket within 24 hours.  You should consider taking out insurance that will cover you against airline failure.
If you book your holiday on the internet and shop around booking your flight with 1 company and your accommodation with another and your car hire with yet another.  If the company you booked with in this instance is ATOL protected only your flights will be protected meaning if the other companies collapse you could be left out of pocket for extra hotel accommodation, car hire and other components you might have booked.

Booking all the components for your holiday with an ATOL agent makes sense. You will be fully protected if any element of the holiday goes wrong.  Either before you travel or while you are away if there is a problem your ATOL agent must sort it out and provide you with help and assistance.

As promised in our first blog post we can now tell you about the new destinations and resorts that we are able to offer.

We have a fabulous new resort available at Abaco, Bahamas.  With rates from as low as £595 per week we think this is a great deal and all the information about the resort and all the rates are now available on our website.

We also have a third resort now available at Treasure Island, right by the famous St John’s Pass.  The Sunset Vista resort is set right on the beach and has fabulous recreational facilites including a great pool area.
